PDF Annotator awarded Second Place at the 2007 Epsilon Awards

At the annual presentation of the Epsilon Awards this year, GRAHL Software Design�s PDF Annotator was awarded second place. This now award-winning software can be used to mark up an existing PDF file with comments, corrections, and drawings. This makes editing any kind of PDF document child�s play.

The European Software Conference (ESWC) has been presenting the Epsilon Awards since 2006. These are presented to software developers who have created a standalone application for the Windows, MacOS, or Linux platforms and who have made it through a qualifying round to distinguish themselves from the competition in open voting. Last year�s winner was the British company Alcohol Soft�s program Alcohol 120%.

The winner of this year�s competition was xplorer2. Runner-up was Germany�s PDF Annotator, and third place was awarded to the well-known compression tool WinRAR. After the qualifying round (July - September) and the voting phase (September - October), these three applications trounced the remaining competition. Results of the voting were announced at the November 4 session of the European Software Conference in Cologne.

Oliver Grahl of GRAHL software design states: "We are proud of PDF Annotator�s success in the face of strong competition from all over Europe. We see ourselves in a strengthened position from having made available a truly innovative piece of software that fills a real gap in today�s marketplace."

The award was presented by Hubert Gey, chairman of the Economic Committee of the City of Cologne, in the name of the Lord Mayor of Cologne, Fritz Schramma, and under the auspices of the European Software Conference.

PDF Annotator 1.5: Just type right in a PDF document!

PDF Annotator revolutionizes the way users in business, educational, or home settings deal with their PDF documents. Now it's possible to insert comments on PDF documents from any PC. Text boxes, highlighting, drawings and images--all are easy to add to any PDF document with PDF Annotator.

The whole world is becoming digital. Documents are no longer distributed on paper, but sent on their way electronically. To eliminate compatibility issues between the sender and the recipient, the PDF format was devised. Any type of file that uses this format can be opened, read or printed from any computer, but cannot modified.

Norton Antivirus resolves false alarm on AB-Clock

Since their virus definition update from July 8, 2006, Norton Antivirus reported a false positive, saying the goMsg.dll component, which is part of our AB-Clock product, would be a malware called Spyware.SniperSpy. The vendor Symantec was informed about the problem, has confirmed and resolved it with their latest virus signature update. Norton Antivirus users should update to the latest definitions, if not yet automatically done.

Since last weekend's virus definition update, Norton Antivirus reports a false positive, saying the goMsg.dll component, which is part of our AB-Clock product, would be a malware called Spyware.SniperSpy. The vendor Symantec has been informed about the problem and they are already working on resolving it. Until then, you can help yourself, depending on your configuration, by moving the goMsg.dll file out of the quarantine, or by telling Norton to ignore detections on this file. If Norton has silently deleted the file, you will have to reinstall AB-Clock to get it back. You will find step by step instructions here.

PDF Annotator "School Pack": PDF's are Appearing Everywhere in the Academic and Research Worlds.

PDF Annotator makes it easy to write and draw directly on PDF documents. Right now, PDF Annotator is finding more and more uses in instructional settings-by both teachers and students. Seizing on this, the producer has now decided to make the software available as an economically-priced "School Pack."

Any document, spreadsheet or presentation can be saved in PDF format. And anyone can view any of these files with the free Acrobat Reader. So it doesn't matter what application was originally used to create the PDF. Meanwhile PDF (Portable Document Format) documents are spreading like wildlife and popping up everywhere.

A PDF revolution is taking place on the average home computer. Formerly, PDF documents could only be viewed and printed-unless one had expensive additional software, they could not be edited. Now, PDF Annotator makes it easy and cost-efficient to add notes to PDF documents. Comments can be added in longhand. Easily Add Comments to PDF Files

GRAHL software design has released PDF Annotator(tm), a Tablet PC program that lets you open any PDF file, add comments using the Tablet PC pen, and save the annotated documents in PDF format. Using PDF Annotator, you can highlight text, circle or cross out items, write your comments in the margins, and provide all sorts of written feedback that your business colleagues, customers, prospects, and students can read or print.

On December 1, 2004, Microsoft announced the winners of their Tablet PC Developer Application Contest, and PDF Annotator was among the 12 applications that won an award. Before PDF Annotator, proofreading and commenting on a PDF file was a complex process. All of the people on the project had to have multiple software products, and spend a lot of time wrestling with files. Alternatively, they could print PDF files, annotate them manually, and pass paper to the various team members. PDF Annotator lets you add comments naturally, using a pen. All files remain in standard PDF format, and all of the work takes place in a single step. The resulting PDF files can be easily emailed to business colleagues around the world.

It's simple to insert blank pages and add extensive comments. You can even use PDF Annotator for note taking by creating a new, blank PDF document.

Filling in forms is a natural application for PDF Annotator. People can enter information and distribute it to colleagues, without having to learn to use a new computer program.

PDF Annotator for annotating PDF files on the Tablet PC, wins at the Microsoft "Does Your Application Think in Ink?" Tablet PC Contest together with eleven other programs.

After a pre-judging out of 260 participating applications, the finalists, including GRAHL software design with their PDF Annotator product, presented their applications to a well-known judge of computer journalists and analysts, hosted at Ziff Davis Media in San Francisco, CA.

The judge awarded two products with the first (ArtRage, Ambient Design) and second (GoBinder, Agilix) prize and then awarded prizes to ten more finalists of the contest totaling $165,000.

PDF Annotator enables the user to open any PDF file and add annotations, using the TabletPC pen, directly on the PDF file's pages. The annotated documents can be saved back directly to PDF. This way, everybody is able to read or print the annotated PDF documents. Annotated documents can also be attached to emails easily.

PDF Annotator will be released in December 2004.
